The South West Section had their autumn picnic on 21st September near Launceston. Despite the picnic title the event was blessed with a perfect summers day.
Despite some rather gloomy weather forecasts a happy band of Alvis cars turned out for the South West Sections annual Summer Picnic on Sunday 1st September, at the beautiful National Trust’s Great Chalfield Manor near Bradford on Avon, Wiltshire.
Over the weekend of 17th/18th August the Scottish Alvis Weekend took place with a Boat trip on Loch Katrine, dinner at Dunblane Hydro, Meeting at Doune.
The beginning of August 2024, already, and a busy weekend was lined up for Alvis trips. Firstly, there was Palmers Farm near Eastbourne and following that on Sunday, a very early start for the Goodwood Classic car Breakfast.

A classic car gathering, not limited to Alvis cars, was held on Saturday 20th July at Castledore near Fowey on the south coast of Cornwall. This was followed by a short drive down to the local pub on the Fowey estuary for a very nice buffet lunch.
Summer has at last arrived, so AOC members who chose to attend the South West Alvis Weekend based at the beautiful Stourhead Estate in West Wiltshire, were clearly in for a fun time. On the main day Sunday, thirty eight cars formed a wonderful display around the pre- ordained grassed area.
The IAW 2024 started on a glorious Friday and continued through a glorious weekend finishing on Sunday afternoon. There was a slight hiatus due to the overnight rain on the Saturday into Sunday, but the weather did us proud.
The South West Section, in an attempt to make their invariably pretty boring AGM more interesting and hopefully more enjoyable decided to ‘test the water’ by including this year’s AGM as an integral part of a social event. The event chosen was our now annual Spring Picnic held at Long Park Farm in Kingsbridge.
