The brakes locked on and refused to be released - the same as seven years ago. That time the answer was replace the servo, and it looks as though the same is needed now. I see that the Girling handbook (link below) says that the servo should be replaced every 40,000miles - which seems a bit quick. The Alvis Manual of Instructions, page 54 has the following: "[b:n24tlqo4]Lubrication of Servo Piston[/b:n24tlqo4]. The piston in the servo should be lubricated every 12,000miles (19,200km) or at six monthly intervals. Lubrication is effected by sliding back the short length of hose so that it clears the junction of the pipes at the side of the unit, and injecting approximately 25c.c. of Shell Donax A.1 oil into the elbow of the pipe connected to the end cover of the servo. Allow time for the lubricant to clear the elbow in the pipe before pushing the hose back to its original position." Somehow it would make me a bit happier if I was squirting in some lubricant once in a while, but most people who seem knowledgeable say not to put anything in and leave it sealed up.
