Electronic ignition modules for TA21

Has anyone found and fitted a positive earth electronic ignition module to a TA21? The distributor type of Lucas DVXH6A does not appear on any listed supplier I can find, although slightly later (eg TC or TD) ones seem to. I'd be happy to adapt a later one and try it, but want to find out if there is an easier solution first? I don't want to change the car's polarity, before anyone suggests that! Thanks in advance...... Posted by Gizmologist 21/03/2016 21:21:01

have you tried Petronix? Please note having had two of these Petronix modules fail on my 6 cylinder Jensen 541 (+ve earth), I have gone back to standard points based ignition, so I am not making a recommendation! (We drive the 541 about 7000 to 8000 miles a year and it needs to work, be reliable and be repairable on the roadside - we are driving UK to Sicily in May which is a bit too far for the SP25). Dave Posted by DaveT 22/03/2016 12:34:43

Richard, Welcome to the BB. Get in touch with the Distributor Doctor at http://www.distributordoctor.com/ With an upgrade to electronic ignition you may like to consider replacing the rotor button. I have purchased one of their red type and can attest to the quality of the item. Let us all know how you get on. Richard Melbourne Posted by RichardWallach 22/03/2016 20:36:16

Hi Richard I fitted electronic ignition to the Lucas DVXH6A on my TC21 using a kit from Jolley engineering ("classicheads.com"). It was simple to fit and works nicely with subjectively better starting and smoother running though I can't comment on longterm reliability. Posted by drdowhitt 24/03/2016 00:45:28
