Windscreen wipers

The windscreen motor works on my Sp25 but I am unable to get it to engage with the windscreen wipers. The wipers rotate easily by hand ... all suggestions welcomed! Posted by anthonymcg 03/01/2016 17:18:49

Anthony,  Not owning a Speed 25 I am unsure of the wiper mechanism, however it sounds like it is time to strip the system down for an overhaul. If the wipers are activated by a cable in an outer tube then the symptoms sound like that the teeth in each spindle wheel box are worn down and are no longer engaging. If this is the case the solution is simple, namely rotate each shaft 180 degrees and line up a new set of teeth.  The other thought that comes to mind is that if it is cable operated, that the cable has broken or the cable end that mounts to the motor has disengaged.   Sorry that I can't be of any more assistance.  Happy New Year.   Richard Melbourne Posted by RichardWallach 03/01/2016 21:55:40

The only real test is to strip the top part of the dash away and check the drive / wheel boxes etc.. however if both wipers dont engage then the wiper drive has failed/broken near the wiper motor itself or the drive in the motor itself has failed   Chris Posted by chhym 12/01/2016 17:34:15

Mine work, but I find properly applied Rain X does a much better job! Posted by johnlayzell 12/01/2016 19:14:38

If you are in the UK is not going out in the rain really an option?  Fix the wipers or RainX seem a better idea to me.   Chris Posted by chhym 25/01/2016 15:08:49
