I have just tried to tax my car on the web having done it many times previously, now of course you no longer need an mot, guess what, they have not yet updated the site to accomodate this, they do not tell you this on the reminder paperwork---   so after ringing the dvla and umpteen button press's I eventually get to speak to a "human being" to be told go to the post office obtain form V112 to declare no mot needed have your insurance with you and it should be ok, on reflection I suppose  this is no surprise. Hi Phil,  In november when this change first came about I used the DVLA site to re-tax three pre-1960 motor-cycles none of which had an MOT. All went through no problem & I recieved the new discs a couple of days later. Not sure why yours didn't work but the changes have definately been implemented. The bikes had been on sorns as the MOT had expired some years ago so not sure if this made any difference!  hope this helps  regards Dave Posted by dmulvany 08/02/2013 19:09:12

Hi  Looks like the difference is my car has been on the road without sorn since 2006 --- if vehicle is sorned no request is made for an mot thats got to be the reason. Posted by Bemmyboy 09/02/2013 23:42:35

further to the "taxing" problem after trying the post office and contacting the dvla again it seems because my mot is about to expire at the same time as the tax disc the machinery is having difficulty in accomodating this they (dvla) are sending me a v112 form and assure me that all will be well at the next attempt at the post ofice. good to hear someone had success when they taxed theirs, but that doesn't help much Posted by Bemmyboy 11/02/2013 14:46:58

Hi  I got the V112 form - filled it in and went down to the Post Office and got the license with no trouble - what was even more amusing was that they don't need to retain the V112 - you keep it for next year!!  Regards   Charles Posted by Charles 12/02/2013 09:26:00
