Underbody cleaning by dry ice

Has anyone used dry ice chassis cleaning in the UK? I saw a car in Switzerland that had the treatment but it had affected some of the paint on the topside necessitating a respray. Posted by AAT 08/11/2012 13:14:59

I recently had a dry ice demonstration on a rusty chassis member. It did not appear to do anything, unlike the well known sand blasting. It can clean brickwork, however. Posted by jackclover 17/12/2013 09:14:16

I have seen it used in railway rolling stock maintenance for cleaning the internals of traction motors. It is a good cleaning method for delicate items where you want to remove surface grime or dust without damaging the surface. It is far less aggressive than sand blasting. Soda blasting is another useful cleaning process that for example removes paint without harshly eroding the substrate. Posted by Smastropietro 31/01/2015 21:43:01
