Hello Michael,   I had this job done on my Silver Crest, got the ring gear from Red Triangle and had it fitted locally by a light engineers. (DSF DELMEC in Blackburn, Lancashire) I am sure a similar firm near to you would be able to do the job. I think the ring gear is a heat/shrink fit onto the flywheel.  Andrew Posted by tf1695 02/03/2015 17:41:35

I can remember changing the ring gear on a flywheel some years ago (or at least watching my father doing it!).  1. take flywheel off the car  2. drill a hole about 1/4inch diameter into the "meat" of the ring gear (avoid drilling the flywheel) 3. Strike the weakened part of the ring gear with a sharpened cold chisel and reasonably heavy hammer - one good solid blow should be enough to split the gear ring 4. remove old ring gear 5. put cleaned flywheel in the freezer and new ring gear in the oven for 30 minutes 6. quickly remove both, place ring gear onto flywheel, tap into place and wait for the temperatures to stabilise to room temperature 7. refit to car!  good luck Posted by DaveT 03/03/2015 12:21:30
