South West Section Drive It Day

SW DiD

£305 raised for ChildLine

Keen to raise a lot of cash for the nominated ChildLine charity and to involve as many of our members as possible, the South West Section decided this year to have two Drive it Day runs. One began in the far South West of our region concentrating on the beautiful south coast of Cornwall starting at the Penhale cafe and farm shop at Dobwalls near Liskeard. The thirty plus mile run covered a most scenic route offering lots of splendid sea views and included a very nice lunch at the Orangery at Mount Edgcume.

Our second run was in South Somerset, it started and ended at the beautiful home of local member Anthony Norton at Buckland St Mary. Drivers were offered two run options, a sixty mile run on largely very deserted roads down to the Devon coast at Seaton then it was north up to Aviator restaurant at Dunkeswell on the WW2 airfield where we linked up with those who had chosen the slightly less challenging thirty mile run which was again on pretty deserted roads, and of course the sun shone brilliantly all day. The day concluded with some delightful tea and cakes on the beautiful lawns in Anthony’s magnificent garden.
