AOC East Anglia AGM

We had a rather unexpectedly poor turn out for our delayed AGM as a consequence of the on going pandemic crisis.  We are all hoping that normality will soon be with us so we can enjoy meeting up to socialise and exercise our cars. We must also encourage members to attend the AGM as it is their forum to express concerns and make suggestions for improvement and possible changes.

The meeting followed the usual format and we are pleased that all committee members were re-elected. We welcomed Mark Kingstone who was unanimously elected as a new member to our committee. Susi our Secretary reviewed our events for the forthcoming season and our Treasurer, Pete Barratt, had already submitted the approved amended accounts at the end of March.

We need to encourage our members to use the Alvis Owner Club website and to keep abreast of events via the electronic Pinkun. We also want members to submit more articles and report events to the website and to the Bulletin.

Our meeting concluded with a most fascinating story about “Twiggy”. No not the infamous Fashion Model but the TE 12/50 Tourer belonging to Brian Aket. Brian told us the history of the car from its birth in 1926 right up to the present day. The car was entered for the “LEJOG” in 1995, 1996 and 1997 and came away with the Team Prize. Lejog is the Lands End to John O’Groats rally done in December over three days and nights. A gruelling event for a modern car let alone a vintage car. Brian’s story was accompanied by some fabulous photos of the car a couple of which are reproduced with this article. Thank you Brian for keeping us entertained.
