SOUTH EAST: We have arranged an informal visit to the prestigious works of CKL Developments. Founded in 1999, CKL Developments has grown into the world's leading specialist in restoration and race-preparation of Jaguar Sports and Racing Cars of the 1950's and 1960's. We will meet mid to late morning in the works car park: Woodcote, Marley Lane Business Park, Battle, East Sussex TN33 0RE. The visit will be followed by lunch at a nearby hostelry. It is essential to pre-book.

NORTHERN: Newby Hall Vintage and Classic car Show. Newby Hall, Ripon, North Yorkshire, HG4 5AE. Once again, the Northern Section of the Alvis Owner Club are invited, by The North of England Classic and Pre War Automobile Club, to Yorkshire’s largest one day Vintage and Classic Car Rally.

WALES: The Section day at the National Botanic Garden of Wales, just off the A48 to the South East of Carmarthen, postcode SA32 5HG . This site has been extensively developed over the last 20 years and offers a varied and fascinating range of displays and exhibits….and if there’s a spot of rain? just take cover in the world’s largest single-span glasshouse (100m by 60m). We have been invited to park in the central courtyard. This will be free of charge, but we shall need to arrive in a guided convoy; further detail will follow but it would help us if you would let us know as soon as possible if you plan to come.

MIDLAND: Pre War Prescott (Hillclimb) near Cheltenham is open to all spectators for £25 per car. To drive up the hill complete an entry form on http://prewarprescott.com/ (which has more info and photos). Passengers ride up free! Post war cars are allowed to climb provided they have "flowing wings"- so TA14's and 3 litre TA'- TC's are allowed into "Alvis Avenue" and on up! Fear not! It’s informal untimed friendly fun in first rate facilities raising funds for the Royal Air Force Charitable Trust.
Saturday 22nd July
MIDLAND: Cadwell Park VSCC Race Meeting. Cadwell Park race circuit is situated on A153 between Louth & Horncastle, Lincolnshire. LN11 9SE. Parking will be arranged for AOC members (and other Alvis owners) as on previous years within the reserved Classic Car area, which will be properly signed from the entrance. This year, once again, the long-range weather forecast is brilliant for that area on that day! For those who have not been before, the track is a favourite with the drivers with its high-speed sections and 'The Mountain' - well you are in the Wolds! Viewing for spectators is first class - almost on the track in places! Food and drink is readily available and you can wander round the pits area without special passes, etc. For a relaxed and interesting day please join us.
Saturday 28th July
MIDLAND: Wads Stock, Wootton and Dry Sandford Community Centre OX13 6DA. The Midland Section will be officially attending this event as a Club Stand, with appropriate weather protection against the blazing sunshine, we hope. Please come and support us to enjoy a fun day out with entertainment starting at 12noon and continuing through long into the evening. Apart from the terrific display of all types of vintage and classic cars there will be commercial Vehicles as well. The Oxford Bus Museum will be bringing one of their Vintage Buses. The entertainment will consist of live music, dancing, craft stalls, fairground stalls, real ale (the club is sponsoring one of the casks) and food of various types. Previously the Club has attended this event but this time we want to make a real effort to maximize the display.
Why not make this a weekend outing, to stay on into the evening with live music and join the Oxford Bus Museum “Vintage Vehicle Festival” on Sunday. See July invitations for more details. (There is a local Premier Inn for an economic overnight stay).

NORTHERN and WALES: Classics at the Castle, Bodelwyddan Castle, Near Rhyl, North Wales. LL18 5YA - A new venue for this year. As a joint venture with the Welsh Section of the A.O.C. we have been invited to the 9th Classics at the Castle. Taking place at Bodelwyddan Castle near Rhyl. Set in 260 acres of magnificent parkland with the show taking place in front of the castle itself. Concours competition with prizes and throughout the day catering options within the show area.

Sunday 29th July – Oxford Bus Museum Vintage Vehicle Festival. From 10am. Why not make a weekend combining the AOC Wads Stock event on Saturday 28th July with this invitation?
As with previous years, there will be a static vehicle display of vintage buses, coaches, cars and commercials at the car park of Oxford Parkway rail station, North Oxford (OX2 8HA). This will be linked to our Museum site (at Long Hanborough, OX29 8LA) by a frequent shuttle service running every 15 minutes operated by vintage buses.
Our main theme this year is “Express coaches that operated through Oxfordshire during the 1960’s”.
All owners of vintage vehicles that attend will get two free entry tickets to our Museum and complimentary hot drinks. Organised by The Rotary Club of Hebden Bridge, the Vintage Weekend is an annual rally for vintage, veteran and classic vehicles held in the Historic West Yorkshire Town of Hebden Bridge, in the heart of the South Pennines.

NORTHERN: MG Northern Day, Bewerley Park, Pateley Bridge, North Yorkshire. HG3 5HQ - The largest MG show in the North and once again they have extended a warm welcome to the Northern Section of the Alvis Owners Club. Pateley Bridge is a small market town, well worth a visit, and the town centre is adjacent to the Show Ground. For several years they have given us a very prominent display area within the show arena although, if there are enough Alvises, we can have a Club stand. There are stalls and catering on site.

SOUTH WEST: Summer Picnic. All AOC members are invited to join us for our Summer Picnic to be held in the grounds of the National Trust’s Great Chalfield Manor near Bradford on Avon, Wiltshire SN12 8NH by kind permission of the donor tenants Robert & Patsy Floyd. This beautiful moated medieval manor house with its magnificent Arts & Crafts garden has featured in a number of films, most recently Wolf Hall and Poldark. We have been invited to drive through the fine stone archway and park our cars in front of the manor house and to picnic on the lovely lawn areas behind or near our cars. So bring your picnic to arrive any time after 12:00pm. Afternoon teas can be taken in the 1920s garage forecourt of the house and excellent guided tours of the manor are also available. Entry is of course free for NT members, non-members will be charged £9 per adult; simply turn up and enjoy!

NORTHERN: Passion for Power, Tatton Park Vintage and Classic Car show. Tatton Park, Knutsford, WA16 6QN. One of the UK’s most popular Classic Car events with over 90 Classic and performance car Clubs attending and over 300 private entries. Large Autojumble and over 250 trade stands. A full weekend event, hosted by our previous Northern Secretary Alan and his wife Diane. This is a very popular event for all our South Lancashire and Cheshire Members. This Large show goes from strength to strength every year, having an enormous and diverse amount of vintage and classic cars on display. At this show we have our own club area to display our cars.
Tuesday 21st August
WALES: The Welsh Section welcomes all AOC members to a gathering, to meet at 12 noon onwards for a return visit for lunch at the Castle Hotel, Kings Road, Llandovery, Carmarthenshire SA20 0AP. This hotel is situated in the beautiful Towy Valley; on the Western fringes of the outstanding Brecon Beacons National Park. Llandovery is a buzzing market town that still has a strong medieval feel. The adjacent Norman Castle construction was started in 1116.
This charming hotel is in the best traditions of a Welsh coaching inn. It has always been and still is a place for travellers and visitors to replenish. The original rustic charm and character is still there. It is situated in the centre of Llandovery adjacent to the extensive municipal car park. We have provisionally reserved spaces for Alvis friends. We need to advise the Castle Hotel, so please inform us as soon as possible if you are able to be with us.

SOUTH WEST: AOC have again been invited to participate in this unique event in the SW – the Sherborne ‘Historic Vehicle’ Rally and Display, held in the magnificent setting of the Sherborne School Courts. The Display is preceded by a short optional Rally; on their return the cars assemble in this truly historic venue. In 2017 Alvis was the best represented marque and our cars won two of the coveted prizes - this year we must do even better. The event is run by the Rotary Club of Sherborne Castles. SCOTTISH: A 7-day tour of Ireland has been planned for us by the Irish Tourism Group. In outline it is Cairnryan ferry to Belfast, Dublin, Dungarvan, Killarney – 2 nights, Galway – 2 nights, Dublin, Belfast – ferry. Roughly 150 miles per day, total 1100 miles.

MIDLAND, SOUTH WEST and WALES: AOC Members 4th Tri-section Lunch. Midlands, South West and Wales cordially invite you to join us at this 4th combined 3 Section Informal Lunch Gathering. By popular demand, we are returning to The Anchor Inn, Church Road, Oldbury-on-Severn, Bristol, BS35 1QA www.anchorinnoldbury.co.uk to meet at 12 noon onwards. This Inn was our first host for a Tri-Section Lunch. This quaint stone built Inn is situated in a very pretty South Gloucestershire village nestling on the original banks of the River Severn. It has a long history dating back to the Iron Age and Roman periods. There is a delightful and substantial outside seating area and gardens. Our hosts are Mark and his son James, the Chef. This is a wonderful and relaxed opportunity to make new Alvis friends or to meet up with existing ones. Everybody is welcome, with or without an Alvis. Confirmation of attendance will be appreciated as soon as possible to enable us to advise the venue of expected numbers in advance, and limited capacity may be an issue.

SOUTH EAST: South East Alvis Day 2018 at The Amberley Museum in the town of Amberley, West Sussex. The Museum offers something for everybody. Dedicated to the industrial heritage of the South East, Amberley charts the history of local industries and crafts in West Sussex. A diverse collection of exhibits, including a narrow-gauge railway, an amazing bus museum, and other presentations including Connected Earth, Telecommunications Hall, Milne Electricity Hall and a Printing Workshop, ensure there is plenty to see and absorb. Most of all is the fact that Amberley was a huge lime quarry and the museum is built on that past history.
Sunday 9th September – as part of Heritage Weekend, Pakenham Water Mill will be open and include attractions.

Sunday 30th September – Reepham Classic Car Show, Reepham, Norfolk Meet at Reepham Market Square between 11.00am - 4.00pm, up to 120 classic cars are expected to arrive an hour beforehand to be shown to their allocated spaces as the Square is closed to traffic. This year's theme is American car and bike marques. This is a free public event and due to its popularity entry for the classic cars is by ticket only. SOUTH WEST: CASTLE COMBE AUTUMN CLASSIC: The AOC has a stand again this year for 6 cars, but there is plenty of additional circuit-side parking for the 'right' vehicles anyway. For 2018 'Combe' is celebrating 50 years of the Ford GT40 & 65 years since Stirling Moss last competed at the circuit. The usual sun-rise to sun-set day packed with track action, paddock access, hundreds of cars in the 'classics only' car parks and Club Avenue. New for 2018 a trade village. Restaurant, bar, snack-shacks on site. There is no seating around the circuit though, just leaning posts, so bring a camping chair if you want to rest the pins during the day. At 11.30am. we pay our respects at the Harvey Memorial, 12 noon, return to pub for lunch, then at 2pm, join the Alvis Group drive down to the cove to view the ocean, then have tea or an ice-cream at Roskilley’s.

NORTHERN: North Yorkshire England at War Weekend Every October, the North Yorkshire Moors Railway recaptures the spirit of the Second World War for a whole weekend. It is an annual tribute to the men and women who kept Britain's railways running throughout the war. The weekend begins with the ceremonial flag raising on Friday, and continues until it is lowered again on Sunday afternoon. Hundreds of skilled re-enactors help create the authentic atmosphere that has earned it an international reputation for authenticity. Accommodation will be available at Gisborough Hall (further details to follow) and the cars will be parked at Grosmont Station, the RAF base.
