Monthly gathering at Denbies for South East Section.

Denbies 1-June 2021

Meeting according to the Covid rules, an average of ten Alvis’s gather at Denbies Wine Estate near Dorking on the second Sunday of each month commencing 09.30. Organised by Mike Baker and Tim Harcourt for the South East section, the meeting was previously held at Newlands Corner but it has become very congested spoiling the location for our purpose. Denbies is an ideal location. This South East event is featured in the Club's calendar and is a date to remember.

Denbies is a highly regarded wine estate set in the Surrey countryside just north of Dorking on the A24. Visitors can purchase Denbies wine and champagne, join vineyard tours, enjoy attractive walks and fine dining subject to calling Denbies.

A totally informal gathering, we chat, debate, discuss and a 'hole in the wall' cafe serves excellent refreshments and bacon butties.  Last Sunday’s gathering (13 June) is pictured here. Sadly a few members attending were unable to bring their steeds as they were requiring mechanical help but we had eight Alvis’s including our Chairman’s beautiful Charlesworth Speed 25 SC. Edmund Whaterhouse’s fine Charlesworth Speed 25 SB and the Harcourts resplendent and quite rare Duncan. Two more fine recent Alvis’s appeared - Philip Singer's TF 21 and Richard and Barbara Long's TD21 Series 2. Sitting aside the author's TC21/100 is Ian Smith’s very attractive Mulliners 12/70 SC tourer.
