Brize Norton 1

RAF Brize Norton Friends and Families Day, 4th September 2021

Hugh and Ann received a personal invitation to show one of our cars at Brize Norton’s Friends and Families Day. We were welcomed to extend this invitation to the club as a whole; originally, we had 8 cars booked in but sadly 2 had to cancel. A total of 6 Alvis cars rendezvoused at the village green in Bampton to make a short journey in convoy to RAF Brize Norton.  There was a good range of Alvis cars including a Speed 20DHC, a Speed 25 saloon, a TA14 DHC, a TC21 100 DHC and 2 TD21 saloons.

We were fortunate to be able to park as a group at the front of a display on the airfield of approximately 90 cars including many Ferraris, Porsches, Lamborghinis and Nissans!!

We had the opportunity to go inside many of the aircraft on display including a C17 Globemaster transport plane which had undertaken in recent weeks, piloted by our contact Max, 4 return flights into Kabul airport rescuing some 450 Afghanis and expats on each flight.

There was an adjoining field with stalls and motorbike displays and an opportunity to hear the Band of the Royal Air Force College play on the big stage.  It was a fun day, we all enjoyed the Spitfire fly pasts, and very convivial chats seated around our cars.
