As the new company secretary I'm pleased to have this opportunity to introduce myself.
I'm originally from Cornwall but was dragged up to Yorkshire nearly 30 years ago by my wife, Joanne.
I am UK head of litigation for an international law firm. Joanne used to practice as a solicitor. We have three sons : a geographer, an engineer and a classicist. Since joining some years ago AOC has made us all feel very welcome.
We are the proud owners of two Alvises , a TB 14 and a TE 21 Drophead. Joanne tends to drive the TE whereas I get all the admiring looks in the TB !
I've been interested in the marque for a long time. I think it probably started with my Action Man Alvis Saracen at about 9 years old.
I was finally moved to buy one after taking my (then very young) sons to the Top Gear live show at the NEC and we wandered into the classic car show next door. The Alvis stand was manned by friendly enthusiasts particularly the lady who gave us all an excellent leaflet. My sons became instant enthusiasts saying things like " Go on Dad buy one, what about the blue one ? " etc.
I enjoy driving and looking at the cars when I have time .I wish I had more time to spend on them and more money for more cars !
In the meantime I am delighted to support our very hard – working team. I think I was one of those members who did not realise how much work went on behind the scenes and took it for granted.
Finally, I would like to pay tribute to my predecessor, Paul Chasney. He has done an excellent job and is a hard act to follow.
