Breakfast Scramble at Bicester Heritage site – 8th January 2023

The event itself was a sell out (2,000 cars plus occupants along with some well behaved dogs) arrived at this well marshalled event. Held at the former bomber command airfield, which is being turned into a premier national location for heritage vehicles and all their support mechanisms (repairs, materials, insurance and all forms of practical support).

The main heritage site (pedestrian only), had all the exhibitors sites open with staff available for questioning, assistance or sales.

Amongst the Exhibitors was ‘Starter Motor’, a registered charity (www.startermotor.co – “Young people in old cars”), which now has 3 Alvises in their stables helping to introduce the marque to a new generation. The AOC continues to provide practical support to this charity as part of our effort to engage with younger enthusiasts and potential future owners!

I spotted 5 Alvises around the site, 2 being on the Starter Motor stand, although new members David Connell (and his charming wife) had parked their new TA21 acquisition in the main car park.

The Commercial Officer (James Swan) bravely faced the cold, intermittent showers and wind with grim determination ... looking out for any elusive AOC members who seemed to be few and far between.

We are very lucky to have this venue tucked away in an easily accessible location in our section’s geographic area ... it really is an excellent place to showcase your classic vehicle and chinwag with other enthusiasts whilst having a bacon butty washed down with a decent coffee or even a libation from the Wriggly Monkey Brewery!
