 Chairmans Letter: Coronavirus

Dear Member

I am writing to you following the latest government guidance in relation to coronavirus, which represents the most significant curbs to daily life in peace time. At the risk of stating the obvious, these curbs are going to have a major impact upon our Centenary year.

It has been agreed that the Board meeting scheduled for the 25 April will now take place remotely.

All Sections other than Wales are due to hold their Section AGM during the course of the next few weeks. It has been agreed that these meetings will take place as virtual meetings on the dates originally planned. By this, I mean that there will be no face-to-face meetings, but members will receive by email a voting pack, the voting slip from which will need to be returned to the Section secretary in time for the relevant AGM. If you are aware of any member in your Section who does not have access to email, please contact your Section secretary so that arrangements may be made for him/her to receive a pack.

In the light of the current guidance and the age profile of our membership, our advice is that Section events should be cancelled until mid-June at this stage. Section officers will be reviewing their programmes as a matter of urgency.

The Alvis Owner Club has always been a friendly and caring group. I hope that we will do everything possible to ensure that members who find themselves isolated or in difficulties because of the new government guidance are properly looked after.

We now live in very difficult times. I know that we will do our very best to pull through together.

Best wishes

    David Salter
