The Alvis Owner Club was shortlisted as Club of the Year in The Historic Motoring Awards 2019, supported by Octane magazine. The Club was nominated for several reasons, including the Young Driver Initiative, the IAW in York, planning for the Centenary in 2020, and participation at major classic car events, competitions and concours competitions. The awards event took place on Thursday 17th October 2019 at The Rosewood Hotel in Holborn, London.

The event was a celebration of the passion, achievement and excellence in the classic car industry over the past 12 months.

The event was a “who’s who” of the international classic motoring industry, hosted by TV presenter Steve Ryder. It was managed by Octane magazine, one of the UK’s highest quality classic motoring publications.

Notable winners of awards were;

Concours of the Year: Pebble Beach
Event of the Year: Retromobile Paris
Motorsport event: Peking to Paris Motor Challenge
Museum of the Year: Bugatti Trust
Car of the Year: 1939 Bugatti Type 59
Bespoke Car of the Year: Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato Continuation

The AOC was nominated for Club of the Year alongside the Bentley Drivers Club, the Bugatti owners’ Club, the E-Type Club and the Vintage Sports Car Club (VSCC).

Not surprisingly, the award for Club of the Year was won by the Bentley Drivers Club in their Centenary year, including the largest ever gathering of Bentley cars.

Nevertheless, the AOC achieved high praise and kudos by being nominated alongside such auspicious company – perhaps next year, the AOC might do even better due to our Centenary celebrations?
