Alvis had a very successful Goodwood Revival, 7-9 September 2018.
For the first time in many years, an Alvis was racing at the Revival. Alex Vassbotten entered the 1948 Alvis Goodwin Special in the Goodwood Trophy for racing cars from the 1930 to 1950 era, which raced on the Saturday. The car was prepared and driven by Alex Simpson and came a very creditable 17th in the race.
Philip Olden’s 1963 Alice Blue TD21 Series II DHC won the “Car of Show” competition on the Friday, which was supported enthusiastically by the Alvis Owner Club members who met for a picnic lunch around Robin Torrance’s TD21 in the magnificent pre-1966 car park – to paraphrase the old beer advertising slogan, “probably the best classic car park in the world”.
The weather was excellent, the outfits were generally dubious, the racing was exciting and the Alvis cars did the AOC proud!
